One of the most frequent questions we receive at Auto-3D.ro is: "What material is the part made of?". And it's a very good question! The chosen material determines the strength, flexibility, heat behavior, and durability of the finished part. In this guide, we explain the differences between the most popular materials used in 3D printing for car accessories.
PLA – simple and affordable
PLA (Polylactic Acid) is the most common 3D printing material. It is easy to process, producing parts with a smooth surface and fine details. However, it has low heat resistance (deforms above 60°C), which makes it unsuitable for parts left in the car in the sun during summer.

PLA+ – the improved version
PLA+ is an optimized variant of classic PLA, with additives that improve impact resistance and flexibility. It is the material we most frequently use at Auto-3D.ro for decorative and functional interior parts that are not directly exposed to the sun.

PETG – the perfect balance
PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol) combines the ease of printing of PLA with the mechanical strength of ABS. It withstands temperatures up to 80°C, is moisture resistant, and does not fade easily. We recommend it for functional parts that require long-term durability.

ABS – for extreme conditions
ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is the material of choice when the part will be exposed to high temperatures or direct sunlight. It withstands up to 100°C without deformation and is very impact resistant. We use it for technical adapters and parts mounted in areas exposed to heat.
